FAQs

I’m interested in counselling, but unsure if it is for me?

This is perfectly normal. I offer an initial free telephone consultation that I hope will ease those initial concerns, and allows you the opportunity to consider whether counselling is for you and if you feel we can work together successfully.

Where are you based?

I practice out of Surrey and West Sussex, however sessions are currently online only.

How long is a session?.

50 minutes.

How much does a session cost?

£40.

How can I pay?

Bank transfer.

How often will we meet?

On a weekly basis at the same agreed time and day.

How long will I be in counselling for?

This is dependent on your needs.  I offer:

  • fixed – an agreed number of sessions
  • short term – 3 to 6 months
  • open ended – 6 months plus

During our initial session we can explore what option suits you, note this may change over time.

I’m feeling nervous, what can I expect from an initial session?

Again, this is perfectly normal. It can be daunting to seek and reach out for help, especially during a difficult time.

During our first session I will introduce myself and invite you to introduce yourself. I will ask for a brief history along with what you feel has brought you to counselling.

Before the end of the session, we will explore if you wish to continue with sessions by reviewing our contract. This allows you to gain an understand of what the counselling process involves and form’s the basis of our work together.
